Experimenting in Science with Edcanvas!

Last week I met with Ms Berube; a Science teacher at Kuss. After spending time in her classroom I was able to suggest a few tech tools that would fit her curriculum, the technology available in her classroom and the way she already teaches.

Ms Berube switches through many programs in her class. In the lesson I observed, the class opener was done in docs, followed by a PowerPoint interactive lesson with additional time spent on a student centered webquest. Ms Berube told me she often incorporates video clips and music into her lessons. The students are engaged, however, I noticed many open/freeze framed windows on her computer that she was shuffling through. I showed Ms Berube Edcanvas and she started experimenting on her own. Ms Berube is creating her classroom Edcanvas boards to students through email and they are following along. The experience was positive and Ms Berube has since asked me what else I have up my sleeve.  From spending time in her class I was able to suggest technology conducive to her unit and class. I noticed Ms Berube often poses questions to her students where the students  record responses on dry erase boards or respond  back email. My next suggested technology integration tech tool will be Socrative: a student response system. I cant wait to ask the students myself what they think about Socrative while using the program!!!
